Brownells Launches “How To Build an AR-15” Video Series

In the face of growing online censorship across many popular social media sites, Brownells has launched a new internet resource to help customers learn how to build their own AR-15 rifles at home.

Hosted at brownells.com/HowToBuild, the new website features step-by-step, interactive videos professionally filmed in the Brownells video studio. Featuring Brownells Gun Tech Caleb Savant, the videos detail the AR-15 build process with easy-to-follow directions and expert advice.

“Several social media platforms have banned videos and other content showing how to build firearms,” said Ryan Repp, Brownells VP of marketing. “Because of Brownells’ long-time support of the Second Amendment and individual freedom, it made sense for us to create a professionally produced video and resource center to assist rifle builders of all skill levels make the rifle of their dreams in the comfort of their own home or workshop.”

In addition to the instructional videos, the site also hosts links to popular and in-stock parts, tools and accessories required to build an AR-15 rifle at home.

Colt Issues Voluntary MSR Recall

Colt’s Mfg. Co. has recently discovered a potential safety issue with certain Modern Sporting Rifles (MSRs). Colt is voluntarily initiating a recall to protect the safety of its customers because, under certain conditions, it’s possible that some of these MSRs may discharge a second round when the trigger is released when there is a live round in the chamber.

“Colt is committed to the highest standards of quality and customer satisfaction. In keeping with that commitment, during routine quality testing, Colt discovered that hammers that do not meet Colt’s specifications were installed in certain MSRs that were manufactured beginning on March 5, 2021. The issue will be corrected by replacing the hammers in affected MSRs,” the company said in a statement.

The recall covers a portion of MSRs manufactured beginning on March 5, 2021, and includes the following models: AR15A4, CR6700A4, CR6920, CR6920-EPR, CR6920MPS-B, CR6921, CR6921-EPR, CR6933, CR6933-EPR, CR6960, LE6920-EPR, LE6920MPS-B, LE6920-OEM1, LE6920-OEM2, LE6920-R, LE6933-EPR, SP633784, LE6920SOCOM.

The following lists all the serial numbers that may potentially be subject to the recall: AR-15 A4 (CAR022851–CAR023250), CARBINE (CR036354–CR099599), CARBINE (CR713001–CR722100), M4 CARBINE (CR716801–CR721500) and M4A1 CARBINE (CR021580–CR022024).

Colt advises anyone who has purchased a Colt MSR since March 5, 2021 to stop using it immediately and visit ColtRepairMSR.com or call Customer Service at (800) 971-3216 to see if a user’s specific MSR is affected. Not all MSRs within the serial number range in the above chart are subject to this recall and this website offers easy, step-by-step instructions to determine if a particular MSR is affected.

Big Horn Armory Teams Up Again With WWF For Nov. Campaign

From Nov. 1 – 30, 2021, 5% percent of all net proceeds of purchases made from Big Horn Armory’s (BHA) website will be donated to the Wyoming Wildlife Federation’s (WWF) Hunters for the Hungry Program (H4H) to help feed food-insecure families during this holiday season. This is the second year in a row BHA has partnered with WWF.

“Last year we were able to donate $3,000 that was used to process meals for donation to food-insecure families within Wyoming, and this year our goal is higher. We’re excited to work with the WWF’s Hunters for the Hungry Program again to help ensure that even more Wyoming residents will get healthy meals,” said Greg Buchel, BHA president.

WWF’s H4H Program began in the fall of 2018. It has grown from supporting two to four counties in 2020. The counties include Sheridan, Johnson, Teton, and Fremont and H4H is looking to deepen the hunter donations to those incredible partnering processors in the coming years. During the last three years, over 4,700 meals have been donated through the program to food-insecure families in these counties and the Wind River Reservation.

“It’s great to see a Wyoming company supporting this crucial program and those in need,” added Dwayne Meadows, executive director of WWF.

The H4H Program was created to connect hunters and meat processors with charitable food organizations to provide high-quality, nutritious food to community members in need. This program builds on a foundation of conservation stewards who look to give back to local communities by sharing the harvest and cultivating meaningful connections across Wyoming.
