SAAMI Announces Ammunition Equivalency Online Resources

The Sporting Arms and Ammunition Manufacturers’ Institute Inc. (SAAMI) has added two new web-based resources: “General Accepted Firearms and Ammunition Interchangeability” and “Generally Accepted Cartridge and Chamber Names.” These new documents help to clarify the interchangeability of certain ammunition in a specified firearm chamber, and identify the names of equivalent and historical cartridges.

These documents are important for firearm safety because they provide industry and recreational shooters the ability to identify what ammunition can be safely shot in firearms, whether it is an alternate cartridge in a specified firearm chamber or a known equivalent historical name for a cartridge.

“These important documents add to SAAMI’s technical library of firearm safety resources that provide guidance to both industry professionals and the firearm-owning community. They emphasize important safety and technical information regarding the proper matching of ammunition and firearms, and what precautions must be taken,” said Joe Bartozzi, SAAMI president and CEO.

Both documents were developed by the SAAMI Joint Technical Committee and can be found on the SAAMI website under Informational Publications and Advisories.

Champion Continues Kids & Clays Partnership

Champion Traps & Targets is continuing its support of the Kids & Clays Foundation for the second year in the row to help raise funds for Ronald McDonald House Charities chapters.

Kids & Clays supports participating Ronald McDonald House Charities chapters through shooting sports to improve the lives of critically ill children and their families. As a national sponsor, Champion sent a team to participate in the 20th annual sporting clays tournament fundraiser held by Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Iowa with 54 squads in all attending.

Two local Ronald McDonald Houses were the beneficiaries of the fundraiser, supporting their mission to provide a home away from home for families so they can stay close by their hospitalized child at little or no cost. The sold-out event raised over $110,000 and provided thousands of room nights and other comforts to critically ill children and their families at a time when they need it the most.

“The program has made an incredibly meaningful impact over the years thanks in part to the strong support we have from partners like Champion,” said Doug Jeanneret, Kids & Clays executive director. “Champion’s commitment to positive change extends well beyond their passion for shooting sports — it has resulted in critically ill children and their families seeing more compassion in their lives.”

EOTECH Supports MI Mental Health Screening Initiative

EOTECH has partnered with Easterseals Michigan to launch the Mental Health Matters Movement to encourage people to take a free, anonymous mental health screening.

“EOTECH is committed to giving back to our community through worthwhile initiatives,” said Lisa Kemp, EOTECH director of marketing. “When you consider every 40 seconds a person dies by suicide it makes this mission even more critical. In the time it takes a person to take this quick, anonymous screening, three people have lost their lives and that’s why it’s critical we do our part to get the word out.”

For every mental health screening taken through the Easterseals Michigan website through November 11, EOTECH will donate $1 to help the organization reach and surpass its goal of 5,000 people screened.

“Behavioral health is a key part of your overall well-being. Brief screenings are the quickest way to determine if you or someone you care about should connect with a behavioral health professional,” says Easterseals Michigan. “This program is completely anonymous and confidential, and immediately following the brief questionnaire, the results, recommendations, and key resources will be available.”
