POMA 2025 Annual Meeting Set To Deliver Top-Class Experience

If you’re a content creator in the firearms industry space — even as a retailer! — consider looking at the Professional Outdoor Media Association’s (POMA) 2025 Annual Meeting, which is being staged June 23–25 at the Maumee Bay Lodge & Conference Center in Oregon, Ohio, on the western shore of Lake Erie.

This year’s meeting will present a robust lineup of events for professional communicators in the outdoor space — including a one-of-a-kind experience at an iconic facility, tour of a 5-star rated indoor range and other local adventures.

POMA VP and Annual Meeting Chair Britney Booth highlighted this event’s importance for communication professionals in the industry.

“As an outdoor communicator myself, I know how valuable it is to connect with brands, get hands-on with new gear and walk away with fresh story angles,” she said. “The POMA Annual Meeting is built for that. Between field trips, range time, content creation session, panel discussions and networking, it’s the one event that truly fuels creativity and builds your content calendar for the year.”

The Range Experience

On the first day of the Annual Meeting (Monday, June 23), attendees will have an immediate opportunity to participate in an exclusive event presented by NSSF: the Range Experience. Staged at the iconic Camp Perry facility in nearby Port Clinton, the Range Experience will provide attendees with a wide range of shooting disciplines — from bull’s-eye shooting to 10m air rifle to service rifle, and more.

Justin Morrissey, NSSF director, social media, shared that the Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP) and Precision Rifle Series (PRS) have signed on to showcase their approaches to firearm disciplines with attendees during the Range Experience. A venue like Camp Perry provides the perfect setting to highlight long-range shooting.

“The ranges offer extended distances — out to 1,000 yards — so we were very interested in getting PRS involved for long-range shooting,” he said. “There will be one or two other shooting sports highlighted at the event. We expect action pistol and/or multi-gun to be represented.”

According to Morrissey, NSSF’s partnership with POMA will provide a platform for businesses to network with some of the industry’s most accomplished creatives.

“We know in-person networking is critical for all businesses. Through this event, participants not only get to develop new relationships and discover industry brands, but they also get the chance to collaborate on-site to create brand content and generate stories for publications and social media feeds,” he said.

In a unique offering, NSSF is inviting local Ohio media and endemic outdoor media to come together and participate in a Firearms Media 101 class, hosted by Matt Manda, NSSF manager, public affairs. The class will feature a classroom presentation, firearm simulator training program and a live-fire training component.

“This hands-on class covers all the basics with firearms training, firearm journalism and firearm-related content creation,” Morrissey shared. “Students will leave the class feeling more confident reporting on firearms and with pulling the trigger on the range.”

Day 2 & 3 Highlights

On the second day of the Annual Meeting, attendees will be able to take an afternoon tour and participate in a content creation session at Lake Erie Arms, a 94,000 sq. ft. cutting-edge indoor shooting complex that recently received NSSF’s coveted Five-Star rating for range excellence.

This complex boasts several ranges under a spacious roof, including a 16-station range where guests can customize their interactive training session. Shotgun shooters will appreciate the one-of-a-kind TopShot ClayHouse, which has eight shooting suites with “game modes” for trap, skeet, sporting clays and 5-stand. Four 100-yard indoor rifle lanes are each equipped with an integrated target camera, which provides a real-time view of each shot.

Day three has an outdoor focus, with various local trips available to attendees such as walleye fishing, visiting the Castalia Fish Hatchery, kayaking and more.

Opportunities Abound

For those on the fence, Booth and Morrissey emphasized the potential for new business connections — for both media members and corporate partners alike — at a hyper-focused event like the POMA Annual Meeting.

“The POMA Annual Meeting is more than a conference — it’s a content goldmine. Whether you’re filming in the field, testing gear at the range or learning new monetization strategies, every moment is an opportunity to create. If you work in outdoor media, you simply can’t afford to miss it,” Booth stated.

“Brands and creators alike should take this opportunity as a content development springboard going into the summer season — you won’t find another media-centered event that focuses as heavily on representing and supporting the shooting sports,” Morrissey concluded.
