Outdoor Mentors Unveils New Brand Identity to Support National Growth

A New Look for a Growing Mission

Outdoor Mentors has introduced a new brand identity, including a streamlined name and logo, marking an important milestone in the nonprofit’s continued expansion across the country.

Previously known as Pass It On – Outdoor Mentors, the organization will now operate simply as Outdoor Mentors. The updated brand reflects the growth of the organization while making its name and mission more recognizable to partners, supporters and the families it serves.

“This is much more than a new logo,” said Dr. Scott Petrie, CEO of Outdoor Mentors. “Outdoor Mentors has grown considerably, and our new identity better reflects who we are today and where we are headed. At our core, however, our mission remains unchanged: connecting young people with caring mentors who introduce them to hunting, fishing, conservation and the outdoors.”

Mentorship That Extends Beyond the Outdoors

What sets Outdoor Mentors apart is its focus on long-term relationships rather than one-time outdoor events. Young people participate in multiple hunting, fishing and conservation experiences alongside experienced mentors, allowing skills, confidence and meaningful connections to develop over time.

Parents and guardians are also encouraged to participate, helping strengthen family involvement in outdoor recreation and creating lasting traditions that can span generations.

The impact reaches beyond introducing youth to hunting and fishing. Time spent outdoors, combined with physical activity and positive mentoring relationships, helps support the mental, physical and social well-being of young people. In an era when many youth spend less time outside, these opportunities provide a powerful connection to nature and community.

Powered by Partnerships

Outdoor Mentors’ success is fueled by a broad network of partners, including state fish and wildlife agencies, conservation organizations, foundations, corporations, landowners, volunteers and individual donors.

These partnerships provide critical resources ranging from funding and access to land to equipment, expertise and volunteer mentors. Together, they help make outdoor experiences possible for youth who may not otherwise have the opportunity to participate.

“Our model depends on strong partnerships,” Petrie said. “Our impact is multiplied by the agencies, conservation groups, businesses, landowners, donors and volunteers who share our belief that young people need meaningful opportunities to experience the outdoors.”

Positioned for the Future

The rebrand arrives during a period of significant growth. In 2025, Outdoor Mentors facilitated more than 1,700 mentored outdoor opportunities across eight states. The organization continued that momentum in 2026 by expanding into Pennsylvania and New Jersey.

Guided by a three-year strategic plan, Outdoor Mentors aims to increase its reach while preserving the relationship-based approach that defines its programs. The organization has also established an ambitious goal of expanding into 30 states by 2030.

“This new identity respects the organization’s history while positioning Outdoor Mentors for its next phase of growth,” said Eric Dinger, Chair of the Outdoor Mentors Board of Directors. “Most importantly, it keeps the focus where it belongs, on young people, mentorship and creating lifelong connections to the outdoors.”

As the new brand rolls out across digital platforms, apparel and promotional materials, Outdoor Mentors hopes to engage new supporters who share its vision of connecting more young people with the outdoors through the power of mentorship.
