NASGW Names Chairwoman

Laurie Aronson, president and CEO of Lipsey’s LLC, was elected the first chairwoman of the National Association of Sporting Goods Wholesalers (NASGW) board of directors. Aronson has served on the board since 2012 and is also on the boards of the Congressional Sportsmen’s Foundation and the American Suppressor Association in addition to other industry committee appointments. She is also the president and CEO of Haspel LLC.

“This is an exciting time for NASGW,” said Kenyon Gleason, NASGW president. “Laurie grew up in this industry and she knows the ins and outs while garnering the utmost respect of manufacturers and wholesalers alike. I am excited to work with her as she takes the reigns in 2019.”

NSSF Adds Regional Member Service Reps

NSSF added two new regional member services representatives, Tisma Juett and Quinn Cassidy, to provide highly personalized service to members in defined regions across the U.S., and work with FFL retailers, range owners and manufacturers to meet their needs and coordinate recruitment, reactivation and retainment efforts.

Juett has been with NSSF since 2011 and has served in a variety of capacities, including manager of the foundation’s First Shots shooting introduction program and manager of Inclusion and Outreach. In her new role, she will serve members in the Northeast with a focus on those in Ohio and Pennsylvania.

Cassidy joined NSSF in 2018 as a project consultant working on a nationwide member recruitment and retention initiative. He is a graduate of the University of North Florida with a degree in business management, and his professional background includes sales and marketing positions with the International Hunters Education Association, Fish & Tackle Retailer, Babe Winkelman Productions and Gun Digest. Cassidy will work with members in the Southeast, primarily in his home state of Florida.

Capstone Precision Group Taps General Manager

Capstone Precision Group announced the appointment of Dan Thelen as general manager. He will also lead the Mesa, Ariz., facility where Berger bullets and ammunition are produced. Thelen has over 22 years’ finance and operations experience within the shooting sports industry. He was recently CFO at Hodgdon Powder Company and previously director of operations for Modern Muzzeloading Inc.

“[Thelen’s] production planning, financial knowledge and operational skills are a great addition to our team as we push forward in the industry,” said Bill Gravatt, president of Capstone Precision Group.

The Murray Road Agency Hires Communications Manager

The Murray Road Agency has hired Tim Zick as communications manager. In his new position, Zick will play a key role in media relations and strategic planning for Murray Road’s clients. He has worked with numerous industry brands across several different product categories. “I’m honored to begin my next chapter with Murray Road. This new position allows me to work alongside a very experienced and talented team, where I can immediately step in and help contribute to the growth of some very exciting brands,” he said.

Vista Outdoor Inc. Adds Board Member

Vista Outdoor named Michael Robinson to its board of directors. He will also serve on its nominating and corporate governance committee and its management development and compensation committee. Previously, Robinson was the chief digital officer and head of customer experience at Macy’s and Macy’ Prior to Macy’s, he held multiple positions with Gap Inc. and IBM Business Consulting.

Robinson is a graduate of Pennsylvania State University in finance and accounting, and earned an MBA from Pepperdine University.

Lone Wolf Distributors Expands Marketing Team

Lone Wolf Distributors continues to expand its marketing team with the addition of Dan Erbling as the AlphaWolf of marketing. Erbling comes to Lone Wolf from outside the firearms industry and has a strong background in marketing.

Lone Wolf’s Creative Editor, Caleb Giddings, lends, “I’ve always believed what the firearms industry needs is to incorporate marketing ideas and practices from outside our comfort zone. By bringing in someone who can do that, it allows us to continue to stay ahead of the curve … and maybe be a little disruptive in the process.”

Velocity Outdoor Selects Executives

Mike Weinkauf is now VP of marketing communications for Velocity Outdoor. He comes to Velocity Outdoor as part of the recent acquisition of Ravin Crossbows. In this role, he will be responsible for continuing to strengthen all the Velocity Outdoor brands. His career includes 13 years with Babe Winkelman Productions where he was responsible for all facets of the company. He joined Ravin Crossbows in 2015 and was instrumental in promoting the brand as a leader in the archery industry.

Velocity Outdoor also announced the promotion of Dayne Lester to the role of VP of archery products. Lester will manage innovation and sales strategy for Velocity Outdoor’s archery brands, Ravin Crossbows and CenterPoint Archery, ensuring continued leadership of the crossbow market. He comes to Velocity Outdoor as part of the recent acquisition of Ravin Crossbows. His career includes executive sales positions at S4Gear and Field Logic.
