Remington’s Model R-15 VTR, developed in conjunction with Bushmaster Firearms, is chambered in .204 Ruger and .223 Rem. It is available in three models: Predator, Predator Carbine and Predator CS (Collapsible Stock).

The Model 770 Stainless Camo has a nickel receiver and barrel, factory-mounted and bore-sighted 3-9x40mm scope and, new for 2008, a Realtree AP-HD camo stock.

The Model Seven 25th Anniversary Commemorative Edition, chambered in 7mm-08 Rem., has a high-polish blued receiver, barrel and bolt handle; laser-engraved American walnut CDL-style stock and commemorative medallion inset in pistol grip.

The Model 798 Safari Grade, in .375 H&H Mag. and .458 Win. Mag., has a controlled round feed Mauser action; 22" rifled barrel, with barrel band; and steel-hinged floorplate.
The Model 700 CDL is now available in a High-Polish Blued version, chambered in .270 Win., 7mm Rem. Mag and .20-06 Sprg.

The Model 700 CDL Boone & Crockett Series features a 24" clean-fluted blued barrel in standard and WSM calibers and 26" in Magnum chamberings.

The Model 700 XCR 2008 Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation Limited Edition is chambered in 7mm Rem. Ultra Mag., featuring a 26" stainless barrel and Realtree AP camo stock.
Remington introduces the Model 700 VTR (Varmint Target Rifle), which features a 22" triangular barrel. It’s available in .204 Ruger, .223 Rem., .22-250 Rem. and .308 Win.

The Model Seven Predator has a 22" Magnum contour fluted barrel, adjustable X-Mark Pro trigger, full coverage Mossy Oak Brush camo finish and SuperCell recoil pad. It’s chambered in .17 Rem. Fireball, .204 Ruger, .22-250 Rem., .223 Rem. and .243 Win.

The Model 597, in .22 LR, is now available in Mossy Oak Blaze Orange and Mossy Oak Pink. The Model 587 TVP Stainless (Target Varmint Plinker) has a grey/brown Shady Camo ambidextrous laminate stock and stainless steel heavy target free-floated 20" barrel. The Model 597 Yellow Jacket features a unique black/grey and yellow laminated target-style stock.

The Model Five Rimfire, in .17 HMR, has a 22" brown laminated hammer forged barrel. The Model Five Rimfire Youth, in .22 LR, has a 16 1/2" barrel and comes with a single-shot insert.

The Model 547 Custom Rimfire, with Shilen button-rifled 22" barrel, offers “1/2-inch, five-shot groups at 50 yards.”

Remington introduces the ShurShot stock on six shotgun models for 2008. The lightweight, synthetic stock is ambidextrous, with an ergonomic grip and molded-in sling-swivel stud.
The 11-87 Sportsman ShurShot SuperMag Turkey, 870 SPS ShurShot SuperMag Turkey, 11-87 Sportsman SureShot FR-CL (Fully Rifled Cantilever) and the 870 SPS ShurShot FR-CL have a 3-lb. competition spring on the trigger assembly and feature the new SuperCell recoil pad.

The 870 Express Magnum ShurShot Turkey and the 870 Express ShurShot FR-CL have extended forend grips.

For 2008, Remington adds the 11-87 Super Magnum capability to its Sportsman line. The 11-87 Sportsman SuperMag Waterfowl, in full Mossy Oak Duck Blind, has a Quick-Load Extended carrier release button. The 11-87 Sportsman SuperMag features a new synthetic stock design and SuperCell recoil pad.

The 1100 Premier Sporting Line features a nickel-plated receiver and magazine tube, fine-line embellishments, with gold accents on the receiver, and SuperCell recoil pad.

Remington celebrates 100 years of its pump-action shotguns with the Model 870 Wingmaster Commemorative. The 12 gauge has a 28" vent-rib Rem-Choke barrel, “B” grade walnut stock and forend, fine-line embellishments and gold plating on the receiver.
The 870 Tactical Desert Recon features Tiger Stripe Digital Desert Camo and a new Rem-Choke extended ported Tactical (CYL) tube.

The 870 XCS and 11-87 XCS (Extreme Conditions Shotguns) have two stock options: Mossy Oak Duck Blind on the stock and forend of the waterfowl model, and a black synthetic stock on Grey PVD.

For 2008, FNH USA expands its Five-seveN lineup with new model features and finishes. The Five-seveN is now offered in military Flat Dark Earth and OD Green. The 2008 Five-seveN USG also features a more traditional-style trigger guard, reversible magazine disconnect, improved grip design with aggressive checkering, improved ergonomic texturing and a beefed-up accessory rail.

The FNP pistol is now chambered in .357 SIG. Two models are offered, one in Matte Black Melanite Stainless, the other in Matte Silver Stainless.

FNH USA reports the FNP .45 is “rolling off the production lines.” The pistol is available in Matte Black Melanite Stainless, Matte Silver Stainless and USG Model Flat Dark Earth. The FNP .45 comes with interchangeable arched- and flat-grip inserts.

For 2008, the USG Model is chambered in 9mm and .40 S&W. The pistol’s molded polymer frame, in official Flat Dark Earth finish, has checkered and textured grip surfaces, with interchangeable arched- and flat-grip inserts.

In its long-gun offerings, FNH USA introduces the PSR (Precision Shooting Rifle). The three rifles in the line feature a Pre-’64 Model 70-type action with claw extractor, Controlled Round Feed (CFR) bolt and three-position safety.

The PBR (Patrol Bolt Rifle) lineup now includes the PBR-USA Ultra Short Action. Chambered for .223 Rem, the rifle has a forged machined steel receiver and 20" Mil-Spec match-grade, hammer-forged steel barrel. The FN/Hogue Ultra-Short Action synthetic stock is available in Olive Drab and Matte Black.

The FN Special Combat Automatic Rifle (SCAR) is now available for law enforcement sales. The rifle was tested by “operators” of the U.S. Special Operations Command (USSCOM) and chosen as their next generation modular assault rifle system. The SCAR offers law enforcement agencies complete modularity, rapid adaptability and reliability combined with commonality of training, simplified logistics and reduced armorer service downtime.

In its carbine line, FNH USA has enhanced the P90 line with the LV Laser Visible model
s. New for law enforcement and military customers only, the tactical carbines now feature a pressure switch-activated laser target designator mounted to the forward face of the front handguard, allowing an operator to quickly and accurately bring the firearm onto target without raising the optical or electronic sighting system to eye level.

The FN FS 2000 carbines are semiauto-only versions of the FN F2000 Tactical bull pup design. The new Tactical model is suitable for security, personal defense and competition with a 17.4" civilian-legal barrel. Chambered in .223, the FN F2000 has an Olive Drab stock.

Sig Sauer introduces the SIG .556 Rifle SWAT, with a two-position adjustable gas piston operating rod system. The SIG .556 has a 16" military-grade cold hammer forged barrel, chambered in 5.56 NATO, with a 1:7" twist. The rifle is equipped with a flash suppressor, two-stage trigger, ambidextrous safety and front and rear sight system. The quad rail has four integrated Picatinny rails, and the receiver is carbon steel with a wear-resistant Nitron X finish. Length is 37" and weight is 8.7 lbs.

Sig Sauer’s P250 handgun has one serialized frame that can transform into multiple configurations. Available in three sizes — full size, compact and subcompact — each is available in .45ACP, .40 S&W, .357 SIG and 9mm. Two different trigger lengths and three grip shells are available. The P250 features SIGLITE three-dot night sights, reversible magazine release, ambidextrous slide release and an integral accessory rail with a Nitron finish. Length is 7.2" and weight is 30.8 oz.

DoubleStar’s design of the Patrol Rifle is based on information from frontline police officers. The lightweight A-1 configuration with 1:9 twist barrel is mounted on a forged flattop upper receiver. EAA’s new Zastava EZ series pistol features ambidextrous controls (decocker/slide release and magazine release), three-dot sight system, double/single action trigger, lightweight aerospace aluminum frame and solid-steel machined slide. Chambered in 9mm, .40 S&W and .45 ACP, the pistol has a machined integral accessory rail, firing pin block safety, spurred hammer, full length claw extractor and loaded chamber indicator.

The Drozd, one of the most unique BB guns in the world, is powered by C02 and AA batteries. The Drozd is a true select-fire BB gun, firing one-, three- and six-round bursts. The cycle speed is also adjustable: 300, 450 and 600 rounds per minute. The detachable magazine holds the C02 cartridge and 30 BBs. The Drozd also comes with a detachable shoulder stock.

Weatherby introduces the SA-08 Semi-Auto line of shotguns available in three models: Upland, Youth and Synthetic. The shotguns feature a dual-valve system, permitting shooters to accommodate a wide range of loads. The SA-08s have alloy receivers, chrome-plated bolts and chrome-lined barrels, drop-out trigger systems and lengthened forcing cones. Three screw-in Integral Multi-Choke Systems are compatible with the Briley thread pattern.

The Upland and Youth models feature walnut stocks. The Youth has a scaled-down stock and is available in 20 gauge. The Synthetic features a black composite stock. The Upland and Synthetic are available in 12 and 20 gauge.

Also new from Weatherby are two custom Vanguard rifles. The Vanguard Sage Country is for open prairie and has an injection-molded stock with a Desert Camo finish. It has matte black metalwork, 24" chrome moly barrel and rubber recoil pad.

The Vanguard Back Country is designed for high-altitude hunting and weighs 6 3/4 lbs., and features  stainless steel metalwork and a fluted barrel with a matte finish. It has a composite stock and a Pachmayr Decelerator pad. Both rifles feature a Monte Carlo stock design, are 44" long with a length-of-pull of 13 5/8" and are available in a variety of calibers.

Weatherby presents the PA-08 line of pump-action shotguns, available in Upland, Knoxx Strutter X Camo, Knoxx Strutter X Synthetic and Knoxx HD (Home Defense) models.

The PA-08s feature alloy receivers, are available in 12 gauge with a 3" chamber, have chrome-lined barrels, lengthened forcing cones, a drop-out trigger system and three application-specific choke tubes (except the HD model).

Knoxx models feature composite forends and adjustable, pistol-grip stocks. Strutter X models are designed for turkey hunters and feature vented top ribs and fiber optic front sights, and the Camo features Skyline Apparition Excel camo. The Knoxx HD model has an 18" barrel.

The Upland model has a stock and forend of Turkish walnut with finger grooves and checkering and functioning recoil pad.

Browning introduces the all-new X-Bolt for 2008. The new bolt-action rifle features a three-lever Feather Trigger system, which is adjustable from 3 to 5 lbs. and factory pre-set at approximately 3 1/2 lbs. The rifle also features a new bolt unlock button, all-new Inflex Technology recoil pad, X-Lock mounts and a new detachable rotary magazine. The X-Bolt is offered in Hunter and Medallion models with wood stocks, and in Composite Stalker and Stainless Stalker models with composite stocks. Calibers offered range from .243 Win. to .375 H&H Mag.

For 2008, Browning is expanding its T-Bolt lineup with a Composite model, in Sporter and Target/Varmint versions, that features a spare magazine compartment in the buttstock. Also for 2008, all T-Bolts in Sporter and Target/Varmint models will be chambered in .17 HMR and .22 WMR. The Composite Sporter features a matte black finished stock and 22" medium barrel with semi-match chamber. The T-Bolt Composite Target/Varmint features a heavy target 22" barrel with semi-match chamber.

The 2008 Citori 625 features all-new Vector Pro extended forcing cones and a new modified trigger, which offers a lighter, crisper pull. The Citori 625 also features new wood checkering and receiver engraving patterns.

The Citori 625 Field is offered in 12 gauge only with 26" and 28" lightweight profile barrels. The new Citori 625 Sporting, in standard and adjustable comb stock models, is available in 12- gauge only. Barrel lengths offered are 32", 30" and 28".

The new Cynergy Classic Trap Unsingle Combo includes an adjustable Unsingle Rib, with single barrel, and an over-and-under barrel set. The combo is supplied with a gloss-finish, Monte Carlo-grade III/IV walnut stock, with right-hand palm swell, adjustable comb and modified semi-beavertail forend with finger grooves. The small-frame, lightweight Model 25 Lightweight Varminter weighs 8.35 lbs. and measures 43 3/4" overall. It has a 24" medium-contour, satin blue barrel; dual pillar bedding; jeweled bolt; AccuTrigger and brown laminated stock, with beavertail varmint-style forend. The Model 25 Lightweight Varminter Thumbhole has the same features except it has a brown laminated thumbhole stock.

Winchester announces the return of the new Speed Pump shotgun. The Speed Pump will be offered in Walnut Field, Black Shadow Field and Defender models. The Walnut Field features a gloss-finished walnut stock and forend; the Black Shadow Field has a composite stock and forend. Both Field models are offered with 26" or 28" barrels. The Speed Pump Defender has a composite stock and forend and fully chromed plated, 18" cylinder choked barrel.

Winchester returns the Model 70 to its lineup in 2008. The rifle is manufactured in Columbia, S.C., at the FN Manufacturing facility. The Model 70 has a new M.O.A. Trigger System, improved fit and finish and enhanced accuracy to go with its Pre-’64 Controlled Round Feeding and Three-Position safety.

The rifle is offered in Super Grade, Featherweight Deluxe, Sporter Deluxe and Extreme Weather SS models for 2008. They all feature a Pachmayr Decelerator pad.
The Super Grade is chambered in .30-06 Sprg. and .300 Win. Mag. The Featherweight Deluxe, with angled comb walnut stock and Schnabel forend, is offered in long- and short-action calibers. The Sporter Deluxe features a satin-finished walnut stock and is available in long-action and short-action WSM calibers.

The Extreme Weather SS’s premium Bell and Carlson composite stock features a trim, textured matte surface. The rifle is available in long-action and short-action WSM calibers.
Delivery on Model 70s will begin in June of 2008.

Magnum Research announces the MagnumLite MLR-1722M rifle chambered in .17 HMR. The rifle’s new operating system is based on a patent-pending gas-assisted blowback system that regulates time to peak pressure to eject the casing and move the next round into place. The custom receiver is precision machined of aircraft aluminum and features an integral scope base, custom French grey anodizing and a target trigger. The rifle has a Hogue OverMolded stock, with Barracuda stocks available, and a graphite barrel. It weighs 5 lbs.

Also available for 2008 is a steel-barreled version of the MagnumLite MLR-1722M rifle. The Heavy Varmint edition is available in blued and stainless steel models chambered in .17 HMR and .22 WMR.

Rossi introduces the Trifecta, a youth shooting system that includes barrels for a .243 Winchester, .22 LR and 20-gauge shotgun. The Trifecta features a black synthetic stock with removable cheek piece and the system allows the gun to be fully reconfigured with each barrel option.

Removal of the cheek piece when using the 20-gauge allows use of the front-bead sighting component. With the cheek pad in place, the stock accommodates the .22 LR barrel’s fiber optic sights or the .243 barrel with a scope. The .243 barrel includes a scope mount base that accepts standard Weaver-style rings.

Like all Rossi firearms, the Trifecta includes the Taurus Security System, which uses a key to lock the firearm. A transfer bar mechanism and manual safety ensures the breech cannot be closed or opened if the hammer is cocked.

Traditions Performance Firearms introduces two new muzzleloaders, the Outfitter and the Rogue.

The Outfitter allows the owner to change from a muzzleloader to a centerfire to a shotgun. The 24" rifles are drilled and tapped for a scope; the 28" muzzleloading barrel is fluted, ported and contains a quick release breech plug and fiber optic sights. Available calibers are: .243, .270, .308, 30-06, 45-70, .444 and 7mm-08, with more to come. The muzzleloaders include a new safety feature: If the hammer isn’t locked all the way, the hammer won’t cock.

The Rogue features a tactical recoil reduction system from Knoxx that reduces felt recoil by 75 percent. Along with all the features of a Pursuit muzzleloader, the Rogue also has a Knoxx Special Ops adjustable stock, an alloy frame and 26" ported and fluted barrels. The new Scout 1000 has Angle Range Compensation technology for measuring shooting angles, true horizontal distance and holdover. Zeiss introduces its newest version of the Victory Diavari 6-24x72 T* FL riflescope, featuring FL glass and the Rapid-Z Ballistic Reticle System. LotuTec water-repellant coating has been added to the lenses of Zeiss’ Victory Diascope spotting scopes, available in 65mm and 85mm. LotuTec repels water and oil, causing it to bead off, without affecting light transmission. If the lenses become drenched, a shake of the scope will remove most water. Oils from eyelashes or salts from sweat, even sunscreen and fingerprints, come off cleanly without smearing. The coating is durable and resists abrasion.

Steiner Night Hunter

Aimpoint introduces a new modular accessory, the Concealed Engagement Unit. The CEU is compatible with all Aimpoint sights, rotates 260 degrees and does not affect the sight’s point-of-impact. The optics deliver a true image and the unit is designed to stand up to extreme modern combat conditions.

Aimpoint’s new MPS3 Sight is a passive electronic reflex collimator for use on medium- to heavy-support weapons. Federal Trophy Bonded

The new Vital-Shok Trophy Bonded Tip big-game bullet is built on the Trophy Bonded Bear Claw platform, with added features. A neon, translucent poly-carbonate tip and boat-tail design are combined with a solid copper shank. It is available in 15 calibers for 2008.
TNT Green brings non-tox technology to the V-Shok line. The lead-free bullet will initially be offered in .222, .22-250 and .223.

Federal is extending its offering of the TSX-Bullet, adding a new Delrin Tip for 2008. A lead-free bullet, the Tipped TSXTM is designed to reduce pressure and barrel fouling. It is available in four calibers and weights.
For big-game hunters, Federal introduces a new caliber with a heavy bullet, the .370 Sako Magnum. Federal has two options: a 286-grain Barnes TSXTM and a 286-grain Nosler Partition.

Introduced last year, Federal’s Black Cloud, with steel shot technology, caught the attention of waterfowlers, including the Duck Commander, Phil Robertson. For 2008, Robertson is endorsing a special load. The Duck Commander’s image is on the box of special edition #3 Black Cloud loads.

For 2008, Federal offers two additional 12-gauge loads for the Barnes Tipped Expander slug. Last year marked the first time Federal gave the Barnes Expander shotgun slug a tip. For use in fully rifled barrels only.

Federal, in conjunction with Ruger, introduces the new .327 Federal Magnum. The Federal Premium Personal Defense offering is an 85-grain Hydra-Shok. It also will be available in an American Eagle 100-grain soft point for practice.

Federal also is introducing Wing-Shok Steel to complement its Wing-Shok Pheasants Forever lead loads. They provide a non-lead option for hunting in designated non-tox areas.
